The SCFD Structure

SCFD is governed by a board of directors, the SCFD staff and the County Cultural Councils.

Board of Directors

  • Volunteer commitment, 11 members
  • Serve two, three-year terms
  • Hires executive director
  • Develops report and review requirements governing SCFD funds
  • Determines timing of reauthorization process, language of ballot question

One director is appointed from each of the seven counties (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson) by either the county commissioners or the city council, whichever is the governing body.  An appointee must be a resident of the county from which s/he is appointed. Interested persons should contact the board of county commissioners or the city council for more information about the process and any county-specific requirements.

Four directors are appointed by the governor. Applications for governor appointments to boards and commissions must be obtained from and filed with the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions,  http://www.chcpf.state.co.us/governor/boards-commission.html .

SCFD Staff

  • Executive director reports to the board of directors and oversees the distributions and work of the district staff.
  • Two program managers who support the executive director and manage the grantmaking programs. And support the county cultural councils and assist applicants.
  • Office administrator coordinates the day-to-day functions of the office, supports staff and provides information to the public.

County Cultural Councils

  • Volunteer commitment
  • Seven councils, one per county
  • Appointed by the county commissioners, the City Council in Broomfield, and by the public amenities committee in Denver
  • Represents county constituents
  • Reviews Tier III applications, allocates funds and reviews fund use reports
  • Attends site visits of recipient organizations
