Westminster Historical Society Showcases the Past 150 Years of Colorado History

The City of Westminster was founded in the nineteenth century.  Since then, many notable local historical events have taken place.  The Westminster Historical Society was formed in 1962 to promote and preserve this local Colorado history.  The Westminster Historical Society displays artifacts, photographs, and objects.  Their programming and exhibits can be found at a couple locations in Westminster.  The historic Bowles House Museum is located at 3924 West 72nd Avenue.  The house was built in 1871 by Edward Bruce Bowles, and today visitors can tour the museum on Saturdays year round (by appointment only from December 31 through April 20).  The museum is open from 10 AM – 3 PM on Saturdays.

The Westminster History Center is located in Westminster, Colorado at 7200 Lowell Boulevard at the Pleasant DeSpain Building.  This building was constructed in the 1890s and was previously used as a school.  Recently, the Westminster History Center featured a fascinating exhibit called “It’s About Time”, which featured a timeline of important dates and artifacts about the city covering the walls of the building.  The History Center is open from 10 AM – 4 PM.  Visit the website calendar for more dates, times and events.
