Learn about Colorado Nature and Wildlife with the Audubon Society of Greater Denver

The Audubon Society of Greater Denver offers lots of activities that get people exploring outside and learning about birds and other wildlife in Colorado.  At the Audubon Center, its main location south of Denver, the organization offers both classes and outdoor hikes.  The Center provides a critical habitat for an abundance of birds, other wildlife, and plants.  Set alongside the South Platte River – an important wildlife corridor – the site offers visitors the chance to explore forests, shrublands, grasslands, ponds and wetlands.  It was designated as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society, as the park boasts 345 bird species that spend either part or all of the year at Chatfield.

Upcoming activities at the Audubon Center:

-The Full Moon Owling Nocturnal Hike is a fun night hike occurring on Friday, March 6 and Friday March 27 from 6-8 PM.  Explore the trails at the Audubon Nature Center to see and learn about Colorado owls, and even the stars and constellations.

-Front Range Birding is offered on Saturday, March 7.  Meet for breakfast and then carpool to watch birds with Audubon Master Birders.

-The Cherry Creek Wetlands Loop is a half day walk at the Cherry Creek State Park.  Offered on Sunday March 8, this is a fun 3 mile walk that is also good for beginning “birders”.

Visit the Society’s website for a complete schedule of spring activities.
