"Selections from the Collection" Opens this Week at the Museum of Outdoor Arts

2015-05-18

Visit the Museum of Outdoor Arts (MOA) in Englewood to see new and unique art sculptures! Despite its name, the Museum of Outdoor Arts’ main gallery is indoors at the Englewood Civic Center. This gallery is constantly changing its exhibits, and just opened a new feature exhibit this weekend: Selections from the Collection 1981-2015. This exhibition is a celebration of over 30 years of collection acquisitions at the museum. Select artworks from the indoor collection vault will be on public view, including the popular COLOR OF SOUND multimedia exhibit in MOA's Sound Gallery. John Henry, Lin Emery, Barbara Takenaga, David Nash, Robert Mangold, Tsehai Johnson, Patricia Aaron and Chandler Romeo are just a few of the artists that will be represented in this rare exhibition. The exhibit will be open until July 11, 2015.

The museum has a main gallery, a white box gallery for light installations, and a sound gallery for sound based installations, which makes it possible for many interesting exhibits to be displayed.

The outdoor collections consist of sculptures and installations. Dozens of these sculptures can be found outside the Englewood Civic Center, CityCenter Englewood, Samson Park, and Greenwood Plaza. Some sculptures are modern and whimsical, while others are based on famous Italian sculptures, the originals of which are several hundred years old.
