The Children's Museum Expansion Project

2015-08-11

The Children’s Museum of Denver is expanding and the grand re-opening will be in late 2015!

Along with a doubling in size and new entrance, there are several new exhibits for the kids to enjoy.

Altitude

Guests can experience the thrill of risk-taking and the feeling of accomplishment as they ascend 3 1/2 stories. As they climb, children and adults will encounter a swaying mountain gondola, rope bridges and an ice-capped summit - complete with views of the city to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west.

Art Studio

Explore the wonderful world of art in this 2,300 sq ft exhibit featuring clay, window painting and an Artist-in-Residence studio.

Energy

Children will embark on a thrilling adventure to find, collect and use energy resources to power amazing things. From launching rockets and hot air balloons to racing objects and creating a solar symphony, Energy is all about encouraging children to think and solve problems like scientists and engineers.

Joy Park: An outdoor adventure

Joy Park is all about zip-lining, spelunking, splashing, digging, climbing, messy, ALL-IN play. Features and elements include ruins and fort building, bouldering and a rock scramble, cave exploration, sand dunes, a canyon, peak, rivers, waterfalls, bridges, a zip line, hammock grove, fruit tree orchard and a natural amphitheater.

The Teaching Kitchen

Children and families can try new and possibly adventurous foods, sample a range of textures and tastes and work together to prepare healthy recipes.

Water

In this irresistible “hands-in” water lab, children and adults can explore the properties of water and participate actively in their own learning by making a rainstorm, creating a geyser, directing a river and even paint with this extraordinary substance!
