Fun for the Fourth!

2016-06-24

We are in full summer swing! As always in Colorado, I find there is too much to do. Between the farmer’s markets, summer concerts, hikes, and more, it is easy to miss an enjoyable summer activity. So here is a (small) list of what is coming up amongst our SCFD organizations for Independence Day weekend.

1)      The Cherry Creek Arts Festival will be in action all weekend from the 1st to the 4th of July. Enjoy free admission to live music and a copious number of talented artists – from sculptors, to painters, to metalsmiths, and beyond. Check out all the information you need to know here: http://cherrycreekartsfestival.org/festival-info/

2)      The Denver Art Museum will also host their monthly Free First Saturday. Get in to the museum free and see their exciting summer exhibitions. Women of Abstract Art highlights the often unrecognized women of the Abstract Expressionist art movement at the beginning of the 20th century. Why We Dance is a multisensory experience, showcasing the motivation and movement of Native American Dance. Click here for information on exhibitions: http://denverartmuseum.org/exhibitions

3)      Vintage Theatre is producing Lynn Nottage’s acclaimed Intimate Apparel. The show tells the story of Esther Mills, a skilled African-American seamstress in 1905 and how she makes her living. Details on tickets here: http://www.vintagetheatre.com/box-office/individual-show-tickets/

4)      Four Mile Historic Park will be hosting an Independence Celebration on July 1st starting at 5pm. Stop by for historic demonstrations, live music, and horse-drawn wagon rides accompanied by food trucks! http://www.fourmilepark.org/events

5)      The Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls, and Toys will have a Community Day ($1 recommended donation) on July 3rd. Stop by and check out all the amazing exhibited dolls, toys, and miniatures from the museum’s fantastic collection! http://www.dmmdt.org/

Have family coming into town to entertain? Want to do something special with your kids? Check out these activities and events, meticulously curated by our wonderful organizations. Happy 4th of July!
