Free Days Are For You!

Organizations from across the metro area provide hundreds of free days and free programs each year made possible, in part, by funding from SCFD. (Printable 2026 free day bookmark – PDF.)

Some organizations are free every day such as Hudson Gardens, Broomfield Veterans Museum, City of Lakewood Art Exhibitions, Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, Foothills Art Center, Colorado Music Hall of Fame, Depot Art Gallery, and Louisville History Museum! Check back here soon for a full list!

Celebrate community, culture, and the power of family at a free, family‑friendly screening of Coco, the heartwarming Pixar adventure that brings music, memory, and tradition to life. Follow young Miguel on his vibrant journey through the Land of the Dead as he discovers the importance of heritage and staying true to yourself. Don’t miss face-painting and our cultural celebration before the show featuring a special ballet folklorico performance. Doors open at 1:00 pm. Film starts at 2:00 pm.

The Truth About 250-150 is a free, immersive gallery installed inside a renovated school bus, a cargo trailer, a tipi, and a shade tent. Created in response to Colorado's 150th anniversary and the nation's 250th, it challenges official state narratives and bears witness to the legacy of violence, land dispossession, and systemic injustice against Native peoples — amplifying Native voices through murals, interactive installations, a zine, youth art, audio, and video. The experience combines education, artistry, and somatic practice to invite guests into healing, reflection and reparations. See website for full tour info.

neverhome geolocated soundwalk – an audio experience played from your digital device, site-specifically "installed" on a route along the Lakewood Gulch Trail from the 40 West Arts Nexus to Parque de la Amistad. The soundwalk stretches about 3 miles and plays through an app on your device, guided by your GPS location. It's available for free anytime you choose. You can go with friends or alone, listen on headphones or a portable speaker (respectful of other park users), and take as long as you want to explore the stories and sounds that comprise the experience.

Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus

Joy Park Free Night - In collaboration with Denver Parks and Recreation, Joy Park and Adventure Forest will be open for free on Friday July 17, August 21 and September 25 from 4:30 - 8 pm. Tips for a Great Visit: Reservations are not required for this event, just show up and enjoy! Prepare for climbing, digging, zip-lining, splashing, all-in play by bringing sunscreen, towels, a change of clothes and extra socks. Please note: Joy Park Free Nights are rain or shine. In the case of severe weather, Joy Park and Adventure Forest will close. Except for the restrooms, the inside of the Museum will be closed. Pets are not allowed in Joy Park. Service dogs are always welcome.

Nature Center and Park Visitation - The Carson Nature Center is open for drop in visitation weekends from 9:30am - 4:30pm. Visit live animals, build city on our flood table, and explore exhibits. Over 6 miles of trails in the open space, and five fishing lakes are open sunrise to sunset daily.
