This position is responsible for accounting and reporting on several of the Museum business activities; Supports and maintains the Museums operating budgets; Oversight of the Museums accounting system and reporting tools; Timely completion of assigned reconciliations; and management of restricted net assets and contributions.

This position reports to the Senior Grant Accountant.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monthly Accounting and reporting on the Museums events business, retail operations, Membership programs, and admissions
  • Assists with the preparation of the Financial Audit, the 990-tax return, annual report, and Federal Program audit, if applicable
  • Monthly reconciliation and reporting on traveling exhibitions activities
  • Monthly reporting and filing of the Museums sales tax filings and if needed research
  • Monthly reconciliation of critical systems including Raisers Edge to Serenic and the Dashboard to ATMS Reconciliations
  • Accounting for funding from SCFD and the City of Denver
  • Review and analysis of monthly operating expenses for accuracy
  • Monthly reconciliation of the personnel budget and forecast
  • Reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Quarterly alignment reporting with Exhibition, Learning and Engagement, and Publications teams
  • Assists with the development and management of the Museums operating budget
  • Assists with the development of the quarterly Finance Committee reporting packet
  • Responsible for the Accounting System (Account setup, opening and closing periods and fiscal years)
  • Responsible for management of the Museums reporting system, Jet Reports
  • Internal resource for expense and budget inquires by departments. Museum Utilities Reconciliation
  • Annual recording, depreciating, and disposal of fixed assets
  • Other duties as assigned

    Experience

    • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience
    • Jet reporting experience preferred

    Environment: This position is eligible for a flexible/hybrid work environment.

    Pay: The hiring salary range for the position is $61,000-$73,000 based on experience.
