Job Purpose
Performs various accounting duties necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the accounting department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- With the support of the Director of Accounting Services, manages the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement closing process.
- Supervises and provides overall guidance to Treasury Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist.
- Reviews and approves work performed by Treasury Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist.
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals and providing training. Manage personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, execute performance plans where necessary, etc.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Provide support to CFO, Director of Accounting Services, Director of Accounting, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and other departments by answering financial and accounting questions, identifying solutions, providing financial information and ad hoc reports and other support as needed.
- Performs complex accounting calculations, which includes, but not limited to: accruals, deferrals, allocations and in-kind valuations.
- Reconciles ticketing transactions to ticketing system and general ledger.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts and processes adjustments.
- Provides backup for accounts payable and cash accounting.
- Assists with preparation for annual financial statement audit by preparing various schedules and responding to auditor inquires.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- BS/BA/BBA in Accounting required.
Experience
- Minimum five years of experience in accounting.
- Minimum four years of supervising.
- Experience in a not-for-profit environment preferred.
Skills/Abilities
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting procedures.
- Excel skills must be at least intermediate, include tables, pivot tables, lookups and complex formulas and functions.
- Strong knowledge of ERP accounting softwares.
- Experience with expense management and AP automation systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage, direct and supervise staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to move around the office and work environment; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position operates in a hybrid office environment in which select days may be remote.

Compensation: $75,900-$81,000
