The Centro Cultural Mexicano, also known as the Mexican Cultural Center (MCC) was established as a non-profit organization in 1992. Our mission is to promote the Mexican culture in the State of Colorado.


SCOPE OF WORK: Assist the Project Manager and the Operations Director with all cultural events and activities; supports the revenue generating arm of the MCC in receiving customers, translations and art exhibitions.

Position Summary

The Administrative Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the coordination of events, activities, scheduled, and stewarding arts and cultural agency relationships. Maintaining and effectively communicating overall project status to internal and external stakeholders. The Administrative Coordinator is also responsible for grant writing and social media management.

Duties include, but are not limited the following:

Administrative Coordinator Basic Functions

  • Support the Operations Director
    • In the inventory of merchandise
    • General bookkeeping functions
    • Additional administrative and program functions
  • Translations of documents
  • Filing necessary documentations with translations, finance reports, etc.
  • Support the facilitation and negotiating of program events, adhering to prescheduled events and follow through with agreements
  • Support the Project Manager and Operations Director with scheduling meetings and conference calls
  • Support staff members with their duties when needed (such as making copies, sending faxes, or translating documents)
  • Prioritizing tasks and effectively managing day-to-day issues
  • Coordinating the workflow on assigned projects and events
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Organize and schedule appointments
  • Plan meetings and take detailed minutes
  • Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Manage MCC email accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures
  • Order office supplies and research new deals and suppliers
  • Maintain contact lists
  • Provide general support to visitors
  • Support with social media and newsletters
  • Other obligations that fulfill the successful completion of each assigned projects and responsibilities.
  • Manage and update website content and incoming information
  • Manage website modifications, program updates, content, etc.
  • Prepare press releases for MCC’s programs and news and send to media outlets
  • Coordinate and prepare joint press releases with corresponding organizations and institutions
  • Manage and update media contact list
  • Manage MCC’s social media, i.e. Facebook and Twitter
  • Create Facebook page events for each program
  • Upload information and program events to individual media and event sites (i.e. Visit Denver, Westword, Denver Post, Viva Colorado, Acceso Comunitario, 5280, Aurora Sentinel, Colorado Creative Industries, etc.)
  • Prepare MCC’s cultural program reports
    • Gather statistics and demographics from corresponding organization, newspaper/media article links, pictures, etc.
    • Prepare an end of the year packet of all cultural program reports to present to possible donors, foundations, grant reports and MCC Board members
  • Update and maintaining MCC’s database
  • Take photographs at program events and exhibitions
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Assist in photocopy, passport, and retail services when needed

Grant Administrator Basic Functions

  • Grant administration
    • Adherence to grant guidelines
    • Track and oversight of grant deadlines
    • Attend grant workshops
    • Support the grant application process
      • Works closely with Project Manager to compose and submit applications
      • Maintain updated contact information of the organization
      • Look for new grant opportunities
      • Gather all necessary documentation for grant submittals
    • File and archive grant records
    • Create a monthly grant report for Operations Director and Project Manager



  • Minimum High School diploma, with 2 years of experience with nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, and or government agencies
  • College degree preferred, but will accept years of experience and advanced levels of administration as substitutes
  • Bilingual/Bicultural in Spanish language (due to nature of the position this is a requirement)
  • Demonstrated results in project management and detail orientation
  • Exemplary writing, communication, project management and computer/data management skills essential in both English and Spanish
  • Strong computer skills, including but limited to MS Office, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong customer service skills with problem solving proficiency
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of social media
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends
