The new Alliance for Music Education Equity is hiring its first part-time staff positions – a Director and a Communications Manager.  As AMEE’s first dedicated staff people, they will be overseeing all activity of the organization during this critical early-growth phase.  AMEE is interested in combining these positions into one role depending on candidates’ skill sets.

Title: AMEE Director

Position Description: The AMEE Director coordinates the collective impact effort to work towards greater equity in music education in Denver by facilitating member collaboration, planning meetings and large events, and overseeing general operations. As AMEE’s first dedicated staff person, the Director will be a central hub for all activity of the organization during the critical early-growth phase.

 

Hours: This is a part-time position, starting at 8 hours/week, $30/hour until June 2021.  Work schedule is flexible and can be done remotely.  This role is expected to grow gradually over time as the organization grows and matures.  This position could be combined with the Communications Manager position to create a 12 hour/week role, depending on a candidate’s skill-set.

Organization Description: The Alliance for Music Education Equity (AMEE) is the backbone organization of a collective impact effort of music organizations that are passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusivity, and are committed to cooperatively making systemic change in music education across Denver.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Execute the strategy in the business plan prospectus, making adjustments as necessary
  • Mobilize member liaisons and support forward momentum of all taskforce and committee work
  • Coordinate and oversee the DEI training course
  • Provide vision and oversight of the broad collective impact effort
  • Build strong relationships with AMEE member organizations to better understand their assets, goals, and needs

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the music and/or education field
  • Strong written and spoken communications skills
  • Passion for and strong personal/professional understanding of issues of diversity, equity, and inclusivity
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Ability to bring people together and motivate them around shared goals
  • Comfort with Google apps
  • Experience with grant writing
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience leading a team
  • Able to work independently and take initiative

Hours: This is a part-time position, starting at 5 hours/week, $27/hour until June 2021.  Work schedule is flexible and work can be done remotely.  This role is expected to grow gradually over time as the organization grows and matures.  This position could be combined with the Director position to create a 12 hour/week role, depending on a candidate’s skill-set.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Required fluency in English and Spanish
  • Prior experience as a musician, educator or in the music field
  • Strong written and spoken communications skills
