Position Purpose

The Bar and Concessions Manager is responsible for the supervision and coordination of concession and bar service at the Arvada Center.  This includes service for each Arvada Center venue including the ACES ballrooms, Outdoor Amphitheatre, Main Stage, and Black Box theatres and at special events as needed throughout the Center. The supervisor is responsible for required logistics coordination with other Center staff and volunteers to ensure the success of events. This position is the designated bar supervisor for the facility and food license designee.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE – Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

1. Venue Concessions Management

  1. Manages day-to-day needs of Center concession services for all venues and special events.
  2. Manages staff (volunteer, contract, and employee) necessary to provide concession services.
  3. Coordinates with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteer staffing of theatre concessions at all performances.
  4. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and all licensed areas are appropriately maintained in compliance with regulations.
  5. Recruits and trains bar staff for contracted ACES events, concerts and special event services as needed.

 

2.  ACES and Special Event Services

  1. Responsible for logistics and coordination of ACES contracted events and other special events requiring beverage service
  2. Assists Event Coordinator and Center staff in planning and executing special events.
  3. Schedules bar staff for setup and bartending as outlined in the Event Order
  4. Meets weekly with ACES Director and Events Coordinator to review upcoming events and bar needs.
  5. Trains bar staff on ACES policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain clear communication between planners, bar staff, vendors, promoters,

participating employees, clients, and guests.

  1. Ensure that all employees are acting in a friendly, professional & knowledgeable manner at all times while maintaining the proper appearances and adhering to dress code.

 

3.  Financial and Product Inventory Control

  1. Maintains, manages and trains staff in the use of the Point of Sale system used for all transactions.
  2. Manages inventory related to food and beverage concessions including ordering product, monthly inventory, and planning as well as pre and post-event tracking and storage in compliance with all licensing rules and regulations.
  3. Ensures staff (volunteer, contract and employees) is familiar with policies and procedures of inventory control and storage.
  4. Works with Finance to ensure appropriate cash handling and cash supply for all Arvada Center events

Scope of Authority:

Received general direction from the Events and Sales Manager. Plans daily work activities and operates with a high level of independence on day-to-day activities.

 

Financial Accountability:

Makes recommendations to supervisor on budgets and major expenditures. Has authority to purchase and maintain inventory and supplies as needed.

Internal Contacts:  Arvada Center staff and volunteers.

 

External Contacts:  Vendors, contractor, clients and patrons.

 

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

Be able to  moderate physical activity by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.  Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and stand/sit for long periods of time required.

 

 

  Education and Experience Required:
Minimum Education or Formal Training and Experience:

Bachelor of Arts degree in business, hospitality, and related field and/or three (3) years’ experience in theatre or concert concessions, banquet, event, restaurant or bar management with supervisory responsibilities required.  Combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Material and Equipment Directly Used:

Office computer, point of sale system with inventory tracking, basic food preparation, storage, and refrigeration equipment, and standard concessions equipment.
