Bilingual Education Associate
Historic Denver’s Molly Brown House Museum offers hands-on learning experiences to introduce emerging professionals to the field of public history education within a museum setting. This position offers an opportunity to directly contribute to the professional work of a nationally recognized museum while also undergoing career development and learning new skills.
The Molly Brown House Museum is seeking a part-time Bilingual (Spanish) Education Associate to deliver museum education programs for all ages including school groups, scouts, and adult groups in support of Historic Denver’s mission. The Bilingual Education Associate will spend much of their time independently delivering outreach programs in the community as well as leading educational tours for school groups at the museum.
Applicants should have knowledge of Denver and Denver’s history, have strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish, and have an interest or experience in object/inquiry-based learning styles. Applicants should have the ability to work both collaboratively and independently and enjoy working with the public in various settings and with people of all ages.
Primary Duties:
- Conduct tours of the Molly Brown House Museum and present demonstrations and other activities for children, families, adults, and special needs groups in both English and Spanish.
- Present outreach programs on a variety of topics to schools around the Denver Metro region in English and Spanish.
- Assist with program development for new and existing education programs.
- Provide some translation assistance of education programs and materials into Spanish.
Secondary Duties:
- Assist with special events as needed.
- Assist with onsite evaluation studies.
- Assist in training new volunteers/staff within the Education department.
- Assist with other duties as assigned, which may include (but are not limited to): assisting other presenters and partners, light housekeeping duties for education spaces and materials, and admissions and front-line staff duties for museum education purposes.
Requirements:
- Proven ability to professionally communicate (listen, speak, read, and write) in English and Spanish required.
- A degree, or working towards a degree, in Museum Studies, Education, History, or Social Studies and/or one year’s experience working in a museum or education setting.
- Experience in presenting youth and family educational programming in a museum or classroom setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher, as well as Google Suite.
Work Location/Hours:
The Molly Brown House Museum is located in Capitol Hill. Tours and programs are offered both on- and off-site, as well as virtually. Reliable personal transportation is required as this person will need to travel to various schools and locations in the Denver Metro area on a regular basis. Historic Denver reimburses employees for non-commute travel at the current Federal Mileage Rate. Candidates will be expected to lift objects up to 30 lbs.

Compensation: This is a part-time, non-exempt position working 24-28 hours per week. This position must be able to work flexible hours, some evening and weekend hours will be required. This position is for immediate hire. Compensation commensurate with education and experience, starting at $20.00/ hour. Both Federal and State background checks will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
