Colorado Ballet Company is a Denver-based non-profit organization celebrating 62 years of excellence. Colorado Ballet’s mission is to present exceptional classical ballet and contemporary dance through performances, training, education and community engagement while inspiring and growing an increasingly diverse audience base. Under the direction of Artistic Director Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet presents more than 50 performances annually to sold-out audiences in the 2,080-seat Ellie Caulkins Opera House. 

The Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy serves over 1,200 students each year, offering programs for toddlers through adults, a Pre-Professional Division designed for the serious student seeking ballet as a career, an international summer intensive that draws 300+ students from around the world, and educational workshops and camps throughout the year for all ages. Students have multiple performances in Colorado Ballet’s Black Box Theater and a full-length classical production in the beautiful Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Each year, over 150 students have the opportunity to dance alongside professional company dancers during Colorado Ballet’s season at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. CBA is continually recognized with the prestigious “Outstanding School” award, 1st place ensemble, and numerous top placements in every category at the world-renowned Youth America Grand Prix competition. 

Position Summary 

Colorado Ballet Academy seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Children’s Ballet Teacher for our Children’s and Elementary Divisions classes for the 2024-2025 Academy year, starting in August 2024. The ideal candidate must be a motivated individual who can create an engaging and supportive learning environment while guiding young students through a Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet, or Level 1 curriculum.   

Classes currently available in Parent–Tot, Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet, and Level 1: 

  • Tuesday 6 PM – 7 PM  
  • Wednesday 3:45 PM – 8:45 PM  
  • Thursday 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM and 3:45 PM – 7:00 PM  
  • Friday 3:45 PM – 6 PM  
  • Saturday 9 AM- 1 PM 

Key Duties and Functions 

  • Teach Ballet classes for children ages 3 to 9 and Parent-tot classes for children ages 1.5 to 3. Classes range from 30 to 90 minutes in length. 
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes students’ confidence, discipline, and love for dance.  
  • Preparation of lesson plans for weekly classes, following a designated curriculum. 
  • Guide students to perpetually progress through the CBA curriculum.  
  • Provide feedback to supervisors and guardians to help each student achieve their potential.
  • Set and rehearse choreography for end-of-session or end-of-year performance.  
  • Responsible for appropriate music selection for classes. 
  • Attend monthly teacher meetings and trainings when offered.  
  • Opportunities to teach various workshops or camp series at Colorado Ballet Academy will be available. 
  • Complete a state and federal fingerprint-level background check and mandatory reporter training. 

Position Requirement

  • Extensive training in classical ballet with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Certification in ABT NTC, RAD or CCA a plus.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups.
  • Ability and willingness to work with young students of varied abilities and keep them engaged and stimulated.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Experience in classroom management and inclusive approach to dance education.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students while maintaining a disciplined and structured classroom environment. 

Compensation: $38-48/hour
