Currently seeking a Cultural Visitor Services Associate to provide administrative and other support
to the Cultural Programs Coordinators at Lakewood Cultural Center (LCC) and Washington
Heights Arts Center (WHAC). Duties will be to offer day-to-day administrative and operations
assistance, basic research to support programs, coordinating information, projects and program
schedule as assigned. Ideal candidates must be highly organized and self-motivated, with attention
to detail and the ability to prioritize workload. Proven writing, computer, and interpersonal skills are
essential. Location of work will be primarily located at Washington Heights Arts Center.
The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable
employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work
schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer service & front desk operations.
Supporting Student inquiries in-person and over the phone.
Professional appearance, demeanor, attitude and strong interpersonal skills; Reliable,
punctual and able to meet deadlines;
Proficient at Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), RecTrac (recreation
management software), social media and other technologies;
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with changing priorities;
Self-motivated takes initiative, ability to learn quickly;
Strong verbal and written skills;
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality;
Demonstrated ability to identify, collect, organize and synthesize information from a variety of data sources;
Ability to develop and maintain office and file systems (paper and electronic);
Perform administrative duties to support daily business activities;
Other duties as assigned.
Hours of Work
10 hours – Wednesday nights and Sundays to start. Additional day, nights, and weekends as
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees,
participants, parents and caregivers;
Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with participants, families and
caregivers, both verbally and non-verbally;
Ability to solve practical problems in a variety of situations. Ability to interpret and
understand instructions, both written and oral;
Ability to interact with participants in an appropriate manner;
Ability to give clear verbal direction to groups of various sizes;
Ability to deal effectively with emergency situations;
Minimum of 2 years working in arts and culture administration;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written;
Bi-lingual preferred but not required;
Background check is required.
A valid CPR/AED certificate is preferred by start of employment. Options are available to certify
Associate’s degree in the arts, education, or museum studies or 2 years of equivalent experience required.
KSA’S AND PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQS:
Lifting and Carrying
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, using assistance as needed.
Work requires some sitting at desk. Sitting is required for answering the telephone and using a
desktop computer. Will also be standing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to perform tasks. Moving
and walking about the buildings. Position requires the ability to input large amounts of data using
repetitive motion on a consistent daily basis.
Must be able to respond to requests in person or on the telephone.
Use vision to perform word processing functions, work with written documents and read.
Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division used for programming
fees, refunds and revenue reporting.
Must remember instructions given as well as City and Community Resources policies and
Must communicate verbally, and in writing with citizens and staff at all levels of the organization.
Must be able to interpret basic requirements, regulations and ordinances.
Must be able to take direction and follow instruction from supervisor.
Work is performed in an office setting at LCC and WHAC.
Uses computer regularly.
Some additional outside travel may be required.
Frequent contact with citizens, staff and others.
