Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Drama/Musical Theatre Instructor serves as the lead instructor of Spring Session Classes and Spring Break Camp for students aged 5-8, 9-12, and/or teens on behalf of the Education division of the Arvada Center. Instructors are responsible for designing lesson plans and curriculum according to either proposed or pre-determined class themes and content areas.

Spring Session consists of 1.5-2 hour evening classes on Tuesdays from March 18-May 20, 2025. 

Spring Break Camp will be taught the week of March 17-21, 2025 from 9am to 12pm.

Responsibilities

  • Design and serve as lead instructor in studio space for evening drama/musical theatre classes throughout the spring session
  • Serve as lead instructor for spring break drama/musical theatre camps
  • Communicate with Education staff in a timely manner in the long and short range planning of classes/camps
  • Arrive 15 minutes before class/camp is scheduled to begin to prepare parent sign/in and class materials
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings and trainings, including professional development trainings
  • Exhibit strong organization skills, reliability, and flexibility 
  • Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel, patrons, and general public in a cooperative and positive manner as a representative of the Arvada Center

Skills and Competencies

  • Must possess prior drama/musical theatre teaching experience (informal or classroom) and enjoy working with children
  • Applicants should be highly organized, reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic about drama/musical theatre education
  • A passion for creativity, ability to focus on process over product, and a strong understanding of the needs of children aged 5-18
  • Basic knowledge of a variety of performing arts, teaching, and classroom management techniques
  • A background check is required for all Arvada Center instructors

Compensation

This is a part-time, nonexempt position earning $20.00-$25.00 per hour and is eligible for paid sick time.
