Founded in 1963, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) is Denver’s largest and most established nonprofit organization dedicated to the art of photography. Each year, we present up to 10 exhibitions, offer 50+ classes and workshops, and host dozens of events to support Colorado’s photography community and inspire the public. We are a growing organization with an exciting future, and we’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and positive self-starter to join our team. This part-time position requires on-site work at CPAC.

The Education & Programs Manager is responsible for working with the Executive Director & Curator to develop, grow, and sustain workshops, programs, and community events that align with CPAC’s mission and Strategic Plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

  • Plan and develop educational programming in alignment with CPAC’s Strategic Plan with Executive Director & Curator. Set annual program calendar of activities and class structure/pricing.
  • Broaden the scope of CPAC’s educational programming to reach a diverse audience via a range of instructors and class types.
  • Develop projected budgets for revenue and expenses with the Executive Director & Curator.
  • Assemble class descriptions, bios, references, check credentials and make appearances at first class as needed. Confirm that instructors prepare student handouts and curriculum.
  • Ensure education and programs website is up to date.
  • Develop marketing and outreach priorities (online & print) with staff.
  • Coordinate use of darkroom, digital lab, on-site and off-site classrooms, and other facilities being used for education programming.
  • Analyze enrollment histories and class evaluations/surveys to innovate programming and support grant opportunities/reporting.
  • Develop partnerships with current and potential programming partners with assistance from Executive Director & Curator.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of status of classes and able to communicate with the general public to answer questions and register students.
  • Organize the Month of Photography Portfolio Reviews biennially (two days of portfolio reviews).
  • Assists with fundraising programs and attendance at receptions and some special events required.
  • Works with Operations & Communications Coordinator to schedule volunteers for events.
  • Oversees event rental details.
  • Perform research and development on educational offerings of like-minded institutions.

Peripheral duties

  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours when needed.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2+ years professional experience in programming, administrative experience, or nonprofit administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in photographic techniques and software.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow, set goals for completion of tasks, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with vendors and contractors.
  • Proficient in Mac OS and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp, survey software, and Database/CRMs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; organizational skills, both analytical and problem solving.
  • Professional, collaborative personality.

Compensation/Benefits

Compensation: $17-19 hr. dependent on experience.

Status: Part-time (24 hours/week); non-exempt; eligible for part-time benefits including paid time off

Schedule: 3 days a week in the gallery
