The Clyfford Still Museum’s Education & Programs department is seeking passionate and enthusiastic museum educators to deliver the Museum’s programs for students and families. Museum educators, through their love of learning and inclusive teaching, sustain CSM’s innovative programs and contribute significantly to the Museum’s relationships with the community. Part-time educators primarily facilitate inStill School Experiences, and when inStill is not in session they facilitate family, adult, and community programs. When not working directly with groups and visitors, part-time educators support school and teacher programs by planning with classroom teachers and adjunct educators, creating or editing lesson plans, and marketing outreach to schools and teachers. 


Primary Responsibilities:

Program Preparation and Facilitation:

  • Co-teach inStill Gallery Experiences for grades K-12, teacher programs, and events
  • Facilitate Art Crawl infant tours and family programs
  • Facilitate tours for adult and college audiences 
  • Facilitate programs for community groups 
  • Greet self-guided groups of students, adults, or community members
  • Support the Museum’s free days by greeting visitors and maintaining The Making Space
  • Assist with the development of lesson plans 
  • Support other Museum events and community-based programming
  • Support administrative tasks for the education and programs department


Training Participation: 

  • Participation in the Museum’s paid weekly initial training sessions to become familiar with the Museum and our teaching strategies
  • Participation in the Museum’s paid monthly ongoing training sessions to build teaching skills and content across a variety of areas



  • Co-plan and co-teach alongside a team of museum educators to provide optimal experiences for all students, teachers, and families. 
  • Collaborate with the director of education & programs and senior manager of school & teacher programs on ongoing departmental projects including lesson-writing, school partnerships, evaluating school programs, and teacher outreach.
  • Collaborate with the entire Education & Programs department in ongoing meetings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to understand their needs and goals for their students; communicate that information to other museum educators. 


Work hours and duration:

  • Position is half-time and will not exceed 25 hours per week. 
  • Eligible for part-time benefits package.
  • Work hours are Tuesday–Saturday from 9:00–2:30. Daytime availability during school hours is required. 
  • Occasional evenings and Sundays required. 



Skills and experience: 

  • Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or have equivalent teaching experience. 
  • Applicants should have a passion for teaching and comfort with groups of students of all ages. Experience working with children ages birth through 8 is a plus. 
  • Applicants should be reliable, creative, flexible, reflective, organized, and enthusiastic about inclusivity. 
  • Applicants should be able to work independently as well as with a team of teachers. 
  • Applicants should have experience or interest in learning about the digital platforms we use for work (primarily Google Workspace) and delivery of online programs (Google Meet and Zoom). 
  • Applicants must pass a background check.
  • Applicants must present proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the commencement of employment or receive an approved exemption.


Physical Demands:

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing 5–20 pounds. 
  • Uses technology that requires the use of hands and certain visual capabilities, and is often done seated for periods of time
  • Leads programming which involves sitting, standing, and traversing between locations throughout the Museum.
