Museum Overview:    Wings Over the Rockies is a diverse community organization dedicated to unlocking our visitors dreams of flight through exhibits, events and educational programming. Each year, we welcome roughly 160,000 visitors representing all 50 states and 30 countries around the world. Wings is Colorado’s Official Air & Space Museum and is recognized by CNN as one of the top 20 Aviation Museums in the World.  Founded in 1994 and housed at the former Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, the Museum is committed to diversity, inclusion and accessibility for all and boasts more than 100,000 square feet of hanger space full of iconic aircraft, space vehicles, artifacts and much more. Visitors can also experience thrilling flight simulators, discover educational programs and participate in many exciting museum sponsored events.

Job Summary:   The Marketing Manager provides support, creativity, and expertise for internal/external marketing and communications to Wings Over the Rockies (Wings) to ensure the organization achieves its plans for growth in alignment with its mission, vision and values. This individual will report to the Director of Marketing and manage multichannel marketing campaigns including the organization’s brand communication and oversight of: websites, advertising tactics, signage, social media, email, publications and other forms of communication in order to maximize growth, broaden Wings’ audience and increase general brand awareness of Wings. The Marketing Manager will be responsible in working with the Marketing team, cross-departmentally and with vendor partners. The candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Relationships: Jobholder reports to the Director of Marketing and works closely and in collaboration with the Senior Content Specialist, Marketing and Development Assistant, Membership and Annual Giving Manager and cross-departmental teams.


Tasks, Duties and Major Responsibilities:

Branding Activities

  • Oversee brand standard approval process, metadata, store branded merchandising, uploading and maintaining assets, rights and credit lines.
  • Generate media/press releases and helps to review content documents across all departments for relevancy, consistency, and brand compliance.
  • Perform research on competitors and trends, share findings with the marketing team.
  • Collect and review social media and email data to continually improve quality and effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Manage print and digital materials at both Wings locations.

Budgeting Support

  • Assist in developing the museum’s organic social media budget in partnership with the content specialist, identify effectiveness and impact to direct campaign optimizations.
  • Back-up support for marketing budget tracker.

Email Management

  • Develop an email marketing strategy including: identifying and implementing need-gaps and methods to ensure maximum benefit out of our email platform and Marketing data base and campaigns to help drive subscriber engagement, improve CTR and curate more compelling content.
  • Develop email calendar and drafts and schedules email campaigns to Wings’ contact list. Evaluates and supplies email segmentation when necessary.
  • Manage collection of content, draft and send weekly email update sent to staff, volunteers and board of directors.
  • Track, measure, evaluate, and analyze email campaigns to draw insights on performance and make on-going improvements.

Social Media

  • Work hand-in-hand with content specialist and marketing assistant to create, plan and schedule interesting and engaging content for social media.
  • Manage Wings ‘owned’ social media channel budget.
  • Interact with other social media accounts in the industry
  • Create analytic reports for social media accounts to evaluate engagement and opportunities.
  • Interact and respond to comments and questions on social media platforms

Website Support

  • Oversees and updates Wings Over the Rockies’ WordPress website along with Marketing Assistant to support both locations’ events, programs exhibit changes, etc.
  • Primary point of content for website maintenance support with outside vendor.

Miscellaneous Management

  • Work with each department and EOF as needed on marketing deliverables and timelines for exhibitions, showcases, programs and events.
  • Create and manage advertising delivery calendar to ensure all assets are created and delivered to appropriate ad partner on time

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Marketing experience with a minimum of 2-4 years in coordinating marketing and/or advertising campaigns including website and social media.
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and written communication skills required.
  • Proficient in web design, WordPress preferred
  • Proficiency with various social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Reels, Tiktok
  • Adobe Creative Cloud skills preferred
  • Able to learn and efficiently and effectively execute creative and email marketing tools and social media tools (e.g. Buffer, Canva, Mailchimp)
  • Knowledge and interest in aviation and aerospace a plus

  • Knowledge of HTML and WordPress CMS experience a plus.

Working Conditions: Wings is an air and space museum and operates in a 70-year-old aircraft hangar which provides the excitement and heraldry of being around aerospace. Full time hours are expected to be 40 hours per week.  Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  On occasion, work flexibility may be required to support activities occurring in the evening or on weekends and/or holidays.   Out-of-town travel may be required on occasion as well.
