Job Summary:
This seasonal position (May-Aug) reports directly to the Venues Director and includes onsite administrative and production duties for all Summer Concert performances at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Four Mile Historic Park, and other locations as requested. (A full list of confirmed and required dates is attached).
The Production Assistant supports the work of the Production and Event Coordinators and is responsible for ensuring Swallow Hill’s production meets the requirement of the host venue for the entire run of show from load in to load out.
As directed by SH Coordinators or Directors, responsibilities may include onsite communication with performers, tour managers, and other touring team members, and may involve supporting the customer service team, assisting patrons, volunteers, and vendors.
Successful candidates are meticulous about presentation and details, meet deadlines consistently, have excellent customer service, and are able to prioritize and execute several different tasks that arise during a live music event, taking proactive responsibility to ensure exceptional public experience.
The candidate will be required to use their personal vehicle on occasion, requiring a reliable vehicle, clean driving record and valid driver’s license. Additionally, they must be capable and confident of driving, parking, and backing up a 15 passenger and/or cargo van.
Roles and responsibilities are subject to change and re-evaluation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre and post-show set up/clean up of the venue, green room, and dressing room.
- Communicate with vendors and volunteers on the day of the show.
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the venue.
- Provide additional production/artist/patron support, as needed.
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in large-scale event planning and production assistance.
- Must be well versed in live music and event production, including but not limited to stage management, artist management, and volunteer management.
- Ability to work under pressure on concurrent projects with competing timelines.
- Strong self‐initiative, problem solving skills, time management, and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills and leadership, including quick decision making skills.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- All events are outdoors, rain or shine.
- This position also requires hearing to accurately understand information at normal spoken word levels in a potentially loud environment and visual observation for reviewing, checking, preparing, and maintaining written and computer files.
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office, data entry, and other related facility and production equipment is required.
