Program Coordinator for Summer Camp Team (Seasonal)
Job Description:
We are looking for someone to join our Summer Science Camps Team at the Museum. This fun and engaging Science Camp Team works collaboratively to plan a captivating curriculum for campers, support our amazing camp educators on the floor, and have a lot of fun along the way. Like diving into themes around space, health, paleo, and animals!
Be a member of our 4-person camp director team and help make science learning accessible, understandable, and meaningful.
This is a seasonal job with fluctuating hours:
Months of March-May | Pre-Camp | PT – 20-30 hours/week |
May 30 – August 11 | Camp | FT – 40 hours/week |
August 14 – 25 | Post-camp | PT – 20-30 hours/week |
Essential Duties:
· Maintains a safe and welcoming environment for all Museum guests, while actively working to minimize risk for campers onsite.
· Contributes to and helps to successfully implement daily and programmatic logistics. · Preparation of summer program before and during the run of the program, including supply management, execution of activities, and camp and director team check-ins. · Provides guidance for and demonstrates age-appropriate, audience-driven techniques around camper engagement and behavior guidance. · Collaborates in the planning, preparation, and presentation of summer staff training. · Assists in continuous licensure compliance. |
Minimum qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, education, recreation, outdoor education, or a subject in the human service field or equivalent time and experience required.
- 1 year of experience with summer camp coordination for school-age children (5-12), day camps preferred.
- Twenty-one (21) years of age due to licensure requirements required.
- Ability to meet Camp Director requirements of Colorado’s Department of Human Services within 30 days of hire required, including a background check and required trainings.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- An understanding around creating access, equity, and inclusion for a diverse audience.
- Experience with informal learning or science education.
- Ability to be flexible and think on their feet.
