Job Description:

 

Join the museum team in welcoming and engaging our diverse community as a Program Specialist working with Adult and Family Experiences. This position will collaborate with teammates and community partners to plan, develop, and execute experiences that connect adults, teens, and families to nature and science in ways that are meaningful to them.

 

Essential duties:

 

  • Represent audience needs and community values while leading the development and implementation of family programming at special events, throughout Museum exhibits, and offsite in the community.
  • Mentor/coach teammates and volunteers in informal program delivery.
  • Collaborate with teams to plan and implement programming with audiences such as teens, families, and adults.
  • Supports new shows and facilitations in exhibits, free days, and new exhibit components.
  • Build, manage, and sustain relationships with community partners.
  • Ensure programs reach attendance goals.
  • May supervise staff within Adult & Family Experiences team.

 

Minimum qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in informal program coordination or event planning.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings for programs and events required; Schedule is typically Monday – Friday.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required.

 

Ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Conversational (or higher) Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Applicable experience facilitating and coordinating informal education programs.
  • Flexibility and willingness to be part of a dynamic work and team environment.
  • A positive personality and desire to work with guests of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
  • A track record of successful collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with similar priorities while maintaining an attention to detail.​
