Senior Labor Relations/HR Specialist

Senior Labor Relations/HR Specialist plays a critical role in handling labor and employee relations on behalf of the Museum, with a focus on ensuring that the workplaces comply with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. You will lead efforts to foster positive relationships with employees and the union, participate in future collective bargaining processes, and ensure that all employment practices are in line with legal and organizational standards. In partnership with leadership and the Talent & Culture team, you will develop and implement strategies that promote a strong accountability of adhering to DAM values, fostering belonging, collaboration, and ensuring a compliant work environment. This position collaborates with and reports to the Chief of Talent and Culture Officer.

Position type: This position will not be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU

Pay: The hiring salary range for the position is $55,700.00 – $74,200.00 based on experience.

What You’ll Do

Labor and Employee Relations: 

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization, management, and the union, managing all aspects of labor relations.
  • Advise and train managers on the cba and handling issues.
  • Participate in future collective bargaining negotiations, working to secure fair and sustainable agreements regarding wages, benefits, and working conditions.
  • Address and resolve union-related issues, including grievances and disputes, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives and employees to promote a collaborative work environment.

Workplace Compliance:

  • Ensure that all Talent and Culture policies and practices are compliant with federal, state, and local laws, particularly in areas related to labor relations and employee rights.
  • Regularly review and update Talent and Culture policies to reflect changes in legislation and best practices.
  • Oversee the implementation of compliance-related training programs for employees and management.
  • Monitor and report on workplace compliance metrics, taking corrective action as needed to mitigate risk.

Employee Relations:

  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve employee engagement and satisfaction, addressing any concerns that may arise.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints or concerns, ensuring a fair and impartial process.

Collaboration and Inclusion:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on employee and labor relations-related matters, providing insights and recommendations based on best practices and industry trends.
  • Work with other members of the Talent and Culture team on projects and initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience and support organizational objectives.
