The Children’s Museum is seeking a Senior Manager of Donor Relations. This position leads the Museum’s individual giving program and is responsible for cultivating, developing and overseeing relationships with existing donors and new prospects, which includes managing the Museum’s major gifts strategies. This position has one direct report, the Museum’s Manager of Special Events, and works closely with that position to build new friends and donors through special events.

The right person for this position has significant experience in individual giving, major gifts and event management. The Museum’s next Senior Manager of Donor Relations should be excited and motivated to work for a vibrant non-profit organization and be passionate about serving families in the Denver metro community.

Position: Senior Manager of Donor Relations

FLSA Status:  Exempt
Schedule: Full-time

Supervisor: Vice President of Development and Communications


Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Individual Giving and Donor Relations:

  • Develop and manage strategies for acquiring, retaining and upgrading individual donors
  • Work with the Vice President of Development to determine annual revenue goals and to create an action plan for individual contributions
  • Perform prospect research and generate wealth profiles
  • Perform individual donor cultivation through meetings, events and correspondence, annual giving solicitation letters and data utilization to target donor prospects
  • Prepare Museum leadership for visits with major donors and major gift prospects
  • Manage annual fundraising campaigns and track and analyze campaign results
  • Thoroughly track cultivation efforts for individual donors and prospects in Altru database
  • Oversee public communication materials, including Annual Report, annual donor wall, donor/donation section of Museum website, Colorado Gives Day profile and other stewardship materials
  • Supervise donation acknowledgement process
  • Keep abreast of local and national philanthropic trends


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Manager of Special Events, overseeing all fundraising and family events
  • Provide support, as-needed, for special event planning and implementation
  • Work with the Manager of Special Events and the Vice President of Development to set and achieve revenue goals associated with fundraising events
  • Provide growth and training opportunities


Qualifications include, but not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years experience in a development officer/major gifts position preferred
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Extensive knowledge of computer systems and databases, particularly Blackbaud Altru and other products offered through Blackbaud
  • Ability to develop and maintain direct relationships with donors and passionately translate the Museum’s mission and case for support
  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency


Work Environment:       

Busy, bustling team-oriented environment with shared office space


Physical Demands:

Typical for a busy office environment; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs

  • Available to work periodic am/pm special events outside of usually scheduled days
