Job Status: Seasonal | Non-Exempt | Full-Time
Hourly Rate: $18.00
Work Schedule: up to 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Availability, Seasonal Commitment & Time Off:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with a short, fixed employment period. Summer Camp Educators are expected to be available for the full duration of the camp season to ensure consistent staffing and high-quality camper experience. We are able to accommodate up to one (1) week of unpaid time off during the season, either as consecutive days or as individual days totaling one week, subject to approval and overall staffing needs. Requests beyond this limit cannot be accommodated. Applicants should carefully consider their availability and ability to commit to the full season before applying.
Summer Camp Description:
Butterfly Pavilion’s Rosie’s Discovery Camps are immersive, hands-on science adventures where curiosity leads the way and invertebrates take center stage. As a Summer Camp Educator, you’ll help bring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) concepts to life through engaging activities, live animal encounters, and unforgettable experiences that connect kids to nature and inspire a lifelong appreciation for science. From exploring aquatic ecosystems and pollinator “superpowers” to unraveling bug mysteries and diving into myths and legends, our camps are creative, fast-paced, and deeply impactful. You’ll join a passionate, supportive team in an award-winning program recognized for excellence in youth education and environmental stewardship and play a meaningful role in sparking wonder, confidence, and care for the tiny creatures that make the world work.
Position Summary:

The Summer Camp Educator is responsible for leading all aspects of a camp classroom during the 2026 Summer Camp season. This role includes delivering established curriculum, supervising and engaging groups of up to 25 campers ages 5-9, and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-managed learning environment. Summer Camp Educators are also responsible for completing all duties required to meet Butterfly Pavilion’s childcare licensure standards and operational expectations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Lead daily camp programming, including on-site implementation and logistical coordination at Butterfly Pavilion.
- Facilitate interactive, nature-based summer camp programming for youth ages 5-9.
- Collaborate effectively with co-counselors to deliver camp curriculum and activities.
- Engage campers with live animal ambassadors to demonstrate science-based concepts to camp participants in accordance with animal welfare and safety protocols.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-managed classroom environment for groups of up to 25 campers.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and practices required to meet State childcare licensure standards.
- Attend required branch and facility meetings as scheduled.
- Medication Administration for all campers that require medication in accordance with established procedures and training (training provided).
- Certification training in First Aid & CPR is provided to all Summer Camp Educators
Qualifications and Experience:
- Pursuing or holding a degree in education, environmental sciences, or related field
- Basic knowledge and interest in the environment and wildlife
- Comfortable interacting with school-aged children and parents
- Enthusiastic, fun, and patient
- Previous experience working with groups of school-aged children in a camp, school, or childcare setting
- 1 year experience working with individuals of different ages and abilities
- 1 year experience leading a group of individuals or children
- Multilingual candidates preferred

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and stand, use their hands and fingers, to handle/feel/grasp. The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee should be able to lift, carry any items up to 50 lbs.
