Violin, Ukulele and Drum Teachers

Music Encounters, an outreach program of Augustana Arts, is seeking qualified violin, viola, and cello teachers for the City Strings 2021-22 school year. Hourly paid position for a group lesson format using Suzuki philosophies and methodologies. Various openings at low-income schools and community centers throughout Denver, Jefferson, Arapahoe, and Adams counties. Make a difference in the life of a child through this exceptional after-school enrichment program.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans according to Music Encounters curriculum
- Recruit and retain students
- Teach violin, viola, or cello in a group setting
- Prepare students for recitals
- Work with other Music Encounters teachers to create playing opportunities for students
- Work and communicate with Music Encounters teachers, Coordinator, Executive Director, members of the Board, Music Directors, and school staff for all program needs
- Attend all Music Encounters training
- Maintain instruments
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Demonstrates musicianship and artistry on violin, viola, or cello
- Knowledge and experience of the Suzuki method
- Degree in, or working towards as degree in, music education
- Experience teaching in a private or group setting
- Experience working with students in diverse backgrounds and underprivileged communities

- Spanish Speaking
Compensation: $60/hour
