Education & Programming Manager

Founded in 1963, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) is Denver’s largest and most established nonprofit organization dedicated to the art of photography. Each year, we present up to 10 exhibitions, offer 30+ classes and workshops, and host dozens of events to support Colorado’s photography community and inspire the public. We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and positive self-starter to join our team. This part-time position requires on-site work at CPAC’s award-winning space in Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District.
The Education & Programming Manager is responsible for working with the Executive Director & Curator to develop, grow, and sustain CPAC’s Education program, which includes workshops, programs, and community events that align with CPAC’s mission and Strategic Plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
- Plan and develop educational programming in alignment with CPAC’s Strategic Plan with Executive Director & Curator. Set annual program calendar of activities and class structure/pricing.
- Work with instructors, both locally and nationally, who submit proposals to develop a range of educational programming.
- Broaden the scope of CPAC’s educational programming to reach new audiences via a range of instructors and class types.
- Develop budgets for Educational programming with the Executive Director & Curator.
- Assemble class descriptions, bios, references, check credentials and make appearances in classes as needed. Confirm that instructors prepare student handouts and curriculum.
- Ensure Education web pages are up to date on CPAC’s website.
- Develop marketing and outreach priorities (online & print) with input from staff.
- Coordinate use of darkroom, digital lab, on-site and off-site classrooms and other facilities used for education programming, including making chemistry for the darkroom and assisting digital lab renters.
- Analyze enrollment histories and class evaluations/surveys to innovate programming and support grant opportunities/reporting.
- Develop partnerships with current and potential programming partners with assistance from Executive Director & Curator.
- Ensure that all staff are aware of status of classes and able to communicate with the general public to answer questions and register students.
- Organize the Month of Photography Portfolio Reviews biennially (two days of portfolio reviews).
- Plan speakers and programs for PhotoVox, our monthly community program.
- Assist with fundraising programs and attend receptions and special events as required.
Peripheral duties
- Ability to work weekends and evening hours when needed.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Interest and passion for CPAC’s mission and delivering outstanding Educational programming
- Minimum 2+ years professional experience in programming, administrative experience, or nonprofit administration.
- One year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
- Proficiency in photographic techniques (darkroom and digital) and software.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow, set goals for completion of tasks, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with vendors and contractors.
- Proficient in Mac OS and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp, survey software, and Database/CRMs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; organizational skills, both analytical and problem solving.
- Professional, collaborative personality.
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation: $28-30/hr. dependent on experience.
Status: Part-time (24 hours/week); non-exempt; eligible for part-time benefits including:
7 days Paid time off annually and the following paid holidays: New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Sick time (48 hours accrued annually)
401K plan with no match
Schedule: 3 days a week in the gallery
