Under the direction of the Artistic Director, Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet presents more than 50 performances annually to sold-out audiences in the 2,080-seat Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
The Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy serves over 1,200 students each year, from toddlers to seniors. Colorado Ballet’s Education and Community Engagement programming engages with students, teachers, families, people with disabilities, and lifelong learners, making more than 35,000 contacts in 300 schools and organizations annually.
Position Overview
The Boutique Manager oversees all aspects of Colorado Ballet’s merchandise boutique, including procurement, inventory management, pricing, and point-of-sale operations. This role also coordinates and supervises a pool of 100+ volunteers and additional paid cashiers across five annual productions and 60+ performances. The Boutique Manager is the primary on-site lead at every performance throughout the season and plays a key role in delivering a positive patron experience in the lobby.
Key Duties and Functions
- Source, select, and order merchandise for each production, including show-specific items and annual Nutcracker inventory; coordinate with Marketing to obtain design assets for branded merchandise
- Create and maintain pricing for all boutique merchandise; receive and organize deliveries at the Ballet building and offsite warehouse, including semi-truck shipments
- Enter all new merchandise into the point-of-sale and inventory management system (Shopventory/Square) prior to each production; conduct end-of-season inventory count in coordination with the Accounting team
- Organize and transport merchandise from the Ballet building and warehouse to the theater prior to each production; coordinate with theater personnel to set up displays, POS terminals, and boutique layout in the lobby
- Recruit, schedule, and communicate with a pool of 100+ boutique volunteers; build per-performance volunteer schedules and send weekly reminders throughout each production run
- Schedule and supervise additional paid cashiers for each performance; serve as cashier, volunteer liaison, and restocking lead at all performances throughout the season (approximately 62 annually)
Qualifications
- Prior retail, merchandise, or event-based sales experience preferred
- Experience managing volunteers or coordinating groups of 10 or more strongly preferred
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems (Square or similar); basic proficiency with email and online purchasing
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to independently manage a cyclical, multi-phase workload across the performance season
- Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with volunteers, patrons, vendors, and Colorado Ballet staff
- Ability to frequently lift and carry 20–50+ lbs and perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, and use of warehouse equipment (pallet jack, wheeled stair)
- Must be available for evening and weekend performances throughout the season (October–April), with year-round availability for ordering and inventory work; hours peak significantly during The Nutcracker (November–December)

Pay Range: $24.00 – $27.00/hour
Accrued paid sick leave in accordance with CO’s HFWA
