Development & Communications Manager

Summary:
At Evergreen Audubon & Nature Center we are a passionate and enthusiastic group of nature lovers dedicated to helping individuals of all ages connect with nature on a more meaningful level and gain a better understanding of our natural world. The Development & Communications Manager will support two connected areas: communications and marketing content; including our electronic newsletter, email marketing, and social media; and the operations of Evergreen Audubon’s development and fundraising; including implementation and management of new donor management software, funder communications, and maintaining key development records. This position has funding for 2-years, with the possibility of permanent employment.
Schedule:
This is a hybrid position, requiring one in-person day weekly on Sundays from 10 am – 4 pm staffing Evergreen Nature Center. The remaining hours are flexible and remote throughout the week. This position will occasionally require in-person commitments for events.
Primary Responsibilities:
Communications (60%)
- Social media: Maintain and manage Evergreen Audubon’s posting schedule and calendar; create high-impact, mission-driven storytelling content; elevate relevant partner content; and manage day-to-day social engagement across Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor
- Print and electronic media: Submit content and program promotion to relevant outlets, including local newsprint and online event calendars
- Electronic newsletter and membership mailings: Produce electronic newsletter, review and edit submitted content, maintain content submission deadlines, create e-blasts to promote events and volunteer opportunities
- Design organizational content such as signs and flyers
- Annual Report: Support creation, drafting, and production of Evergreen Audubon’s annual report, including drafting sections, copyediting, and coordinating content and feedback
- Membership: Track and manage memberships, including renewal reminder communications and appreciation efforts
- Databases: Source, implement, and manage new CRM Database; transfer existing membership information to new software
Development (30%)
- Execute Evergreen Audubon’s full-cycle annual fund, including but not limited to Colorado Gives Day, end-of-year giving, monthly giving, and third-party campaigns
- Funder stewardship: Draft funder acknowledgements and thank-you letters and other stewardship communications
- Data Recording: Maintain accurate records in CRM, including gift entry, contact reports, donor information, and tax acknowledgements
- Fundraising events: Support and attend multiple fundraising events, including donor appreciation event, annual banquet, and annual Bash & Benefit fundraiser.
ENC Staffing (10%)
- Support daily operations at Evergreen Nature Center on weekly on Sundays from 10am4pm, including, but not limited to:
- Provide positive interactions with visitors and groups at ENC
- Provide interpretation of exhibits and local wildlife
- Run sales in the Nature Center gift shop
- Support and cultivate positive engagement with ENC volunteers
Desired Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with enthusiasm for crafting and operationalizing clear, accurate, and engaging content.
- Passion for working cooperatively and effectively with others to enhance organizational effectiveness
- Goal oriented with ability to operate in a dynamic environment as well as perform in a self- directed manner
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a high degree of organization.
- A responsive, proactive communicator who can correspond professionally with funders, community members, board members, and volunteers.
- Exercises discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential funder and donor information.
- Enthusiasm for the natural world and the mission of Evergreen Audubon & Nature Center
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of experience in a relevant role (communications, development, or related), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
