Community Arts Coordinator
Access Gallery
Access Gallery, a non-profit organization, provides creative, economic, and educational opportunities for people with disabilities. Currently, Access Gallery is seeking a part-time Community Arts Coordinator who will be responsible for coordinating meaningful off-site experiences as well as developing community artist partnerships. This position takes place in a fun, creative, and flexible environment with the opportunity to network with professionals in the arts and the nonprofit sector, as well as make a difference in the community. This work will be performed at the studio located in Denver, CO, as well as various locations throughout the greater Denver area.
As the Community Arts Coordinator, you will help develop and implement opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with the arts community and build partnerships to bring in people with various skills to provide art learning and experiences for Access Gallery artists.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Community Experiences
- Coordinate and implement Access Gallery’s Supported Community Connections program.
- Facilitate meaningful art experiences for people with disabilities in the community, including field trips, studio visits, and small group art learning experiences.
- Coordinate and manage programming for community groups and day programs at an Access Gallery satellite location in Englewood.
- Manage Access Gallery scholarship program for staff and artists.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee transportation to and from community outings and learning opportunities for Access Gallery artists. This includes going with groups on public transit and coordinating the participants’ meeting at a particular site.
- Collect and analyze event data to assess success and identify areas for improvement.
- Create and report program notes, evaluations for relevant initiatives.
Community Artist Partnerships
- Support the volunteer program by identifying community members who can provide mentoring support to artists by offering guidance on artistic techniques, conceptual development, and creative problem-solving.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with community members.
- Collaborate with staff and artists to set quarterly and yearly goals and person-centered plans in relation to community outings and community support.
- Conduct workshops and recruit volunteers to demonstrate specific artistic techniques, mediums, or practices to enhance artists’ skills and broaden their creative repertoire.
- Write notes for billing purposes of the artists’ progress, achievements, and feedback, documenting their development over time to assess growth and adjust mentoring strategies as needed.
Relationship Building
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with partners to develop and implement joint initiatives.
- Serve as a point of contact for community inquiries and concerns.

Qualifications:
- Experience and a background in nonprofit management, community development, education, or related fields.
- An understanding of how to mobilize community resources to support people with disabilities.
- Familiarity and experience with Denver’s public transportation system.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask, particularly in documenting artists’ progress and maintaining records.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a passion for fostering creativity and supporting others in achieving their artistic and professional aspirations.
- Knowledge of arts and culture organizations in the greater Denver area.
- Ability to create and maintain strategic partnerships.
Experience Recommended:
- Working with people with disabilities in a professional setting.
- Facilitating art engagement experiences in the community.
- Google Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience in volunteer management.
- Familiarity with Denver’s public transit system.
Benefits Offered:
This part-time position would not qualify for healthcare benefits; however, would qualify for coverage under workman’s compensation insurance.
Physical Requirements of This Position:
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. as well as navigate throughout the greater Denver area. Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer.
Compensation: $21 - $25 per hour
