Position Overview
Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) is searching for a qualified candidate for the Full-time, 40-hour per week position of Museum Programs Coordinator. The Museum Programs Coordinator will work closely with the Museum’s Artistic Director and Senior Manager of Learning and Engagement to craft, plan, execute and track a dynamic and engaging suite of Museum Programs both on-site and in community. Programs include community partner initiatives, in-school programs, adult, youth and family programs as well as exhibition related programming. In addition, this role will be responsible for scheduling, compiling information for grant reporting and tracking, program research, as well as cultivating and sustaining relationships with artists, creatives, schools and other outreach and community partners.

This is an exciting time to join the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art team as we dream and plan our move to our new home in North Boulder in the coming years. This role will have the unique opportunity to assist with the development of the Museum’s learning and engagement program for the future.

This position reports to the Artistic Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a wide variety of organizational and administrative tasks relating to BMoCA’s Outreach programs including but not limited to: Contemporary Classroom, SPARK, YAW Camps, ArtLab, ArtStop, Studio Project and Summer Camps.
  • Assist with the development and execution of community-outreach programs such as Día del Niño and Día de los Muertos.
  • Assist and lead the development and implementation of BMoCA’s expanding Adult and Family Art Class series as well as exhibition related programming.
  • Assist with curatorial initiatives.
  • Occasionally teach Contemporary Classroom and SPARK!–two of the outreach programs in schools and community centers around the Denver/Boulder area, held both offsite and at the museum. (Schedules & locations will be determined throughout the academic year.)
  • Manage and organize art supplies & materials for all programs.
  • Lead on-site exhibition tours for various groups of all ages.
  • Assist with curriculum development for art programs in assigned schools and summer camps.
  • Collect and report accurate attendance numbers for each program.
  • Informally document program sessions.
  • Manage and maintain accurate program calendars, attendance records, participant information, budgets, revenue reports, partner records, and evaluation data.
  • Work with the program team to evaluate programs based on participation, financial performance, audience feedback, and educational impact.
  • Track program expenses and earned revenue and assist the Artistic Director and Senior Manager of Learning and Engagement with preparing and monitoring program budgets.
  • Process instructor agreements, invoices, purchase requests, reimbursements, and other program-related administrative documentation.
  • Coordinate teaching artists, instructors, speakers, volunteers, and community partners, including scheduling, communications, contracts, program materials, and logistical support.
  • Act as an ambassador for BMoCA.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education/Experience/Qualifications:
Required:

  • 2-3 years programming experience work in a museum, gallery, school, university, art center, or other arts organization
  • BFA or BA in art, art education and/or art history
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and ability to drive to multiple program locations
  • High level of professionalism
  • Ability to lift/safely carry up to 50lbs of weight; ability to routinely walk up & down stairs and perform routine physical tasks.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and the ability to learn registration, database, project-management, and scheduling platforms.

Preferred:

  • Experience in art education
  • Classroom management experience
  • Experience developing arts-related curriculum
  • Some proficiency in Spanish language a plus

Hours & Schedule:
This role is an hourly, non-exempt position with a dynamic work schedule that requires flexibility.
Typical working hours are 40 hours/week, on-site at the museum or at community partner locations. The position will require periodic work on weekends and evenings as required by the museum’s events calendar. Completing administrative work remotely can be an option for a portion of the work week after an initial onboarding period and upon approval from the Artistic Director.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $24-$26.44/hour depending on experience, 40 hours a week
  • Includes health and dental benefits, paid vacation, access to a 401K plan, a RTD EcoPass, and a complimentary gym membership to One Boulder Fitness.
  • A mileage reimbursement of up to $1,000 per calendar year will be supplied for scheduled remote teaching (to be prorated in 2026)
