Audio Visual Technician, Part-Time
Denver Art Museum
POSITION PURPOSE:
To provide exceptional, service-oriented, technical assistance for Denver Art Museum programs, events, and meetings and to help set up, operate, monitor, strike and maintain audio-visual equipment needed for internal museum functions and meetings.
This position reports to the Senior AV Manager in the IT Department and works closely with the AV Coordinator.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The On-Call Audio Visual Technician is essential to executing events at the Denver Art Museum (DAM).
- The technician elects to work a shift and is responsible for executing the notes as outlined for that event as outlined by the AV Coordinator and/or Senior AV Manager.
- Setup, operate, and strike audio-visual systems for the assigned event
- Quickly identify and implement smart troubleshooting techniques for common issues in AV environments.
- Deliver a successful and positive customer service-oriented experience for your audience and client.
- Track hours worked for the DAM via Paycom.
- Be able to quickly absorb the knowledge of DAM policies, restrictions, and procedures sufficient to coordinate and execute technical programs without violating the security of the museum and its collections.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A qualified candidate is a quick study, fails fast and iterates, prioritizes aesthetics, and is motivated to do great work.
- Can exercise good judgement in difficult problem-solving situations.
- Candidates should have basic knowledge and real-world experience in using audio-visual equipment within professional event environments.
- A strong understanding of conventional signal flow within audio, video, and lighting systems.
- Professional working proficiencies with:
- Digital audio systems, wired and wireless.
- Digital video recording camera and playback systems.
- Conventional theatrical lighting systems and portable lighting for video.
- Apple & Microsoft operating systems, business, creative, playback, streaming and broadcasting applications.
OTHER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Should be tactful and patient.
- Should be organized and strategic.
- Excellent at building relationships.
- Great at following instructions and filling in missing steps logically when necessary.
- A professional style of communication.
- The ability to keep AV setups very tidy and safe.
- Understanding of integrated IT networked environments is a plus.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work at least 1 event per month.
- Extend assistance and a customer service-oriented approach to 3rd party vendors on events as required with integration into DAM AV systems.
- Adhere to IT/AV departmental policies as outlined.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- College degree preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years on-the-job experience providing audio-visual and/or technical support
- Museum/Non-Profit/Corporate environment or similarly related field preferred but certainly not necessary
Pay: The hiring salary for the position is $27.77-32.11 per hour based on experience.

Compensation: $27.77-$32.11
